Bill I am forwarding this to the lowfer forum. Its been five years since I
visited WEB but I remember your tower is inverted
and mounted on a pivoting platform.I didnot remember it was aluminum. I
have only two sets of 3 guys on mine but mine
is self supporting , as my base is ridged three point mount. Do you have a
way to lock the platform the tower rests on?
In your case if the guys have all the load I would think you would need 3
 sets of 4 minimum.
A picture would help. I regret I didn't take my camera when you took me
 out to see the installation.
I hope some more knowledgeable than I will chip in with comments.
I use a dacron guy material rated at 1800lbs. Cost about $50 for 500ft
roll. My tower is aluminum. those interested can view
my installation at http://www.w4dex.com/gallery/WMS.
Good luck

Paul: I need some advice on antenna installations. I had a guy rope
break recently on WEB, so I have decided to lower it and replace all the
guy ropes and insulators. It was put up over 5 years ago, so I can not
 complain.

All my antennas in Oklahoma were 4" diameter Copper pipes and they
required a lot of guy wire support. My antenna now is an Aluminum
triangular frame , 8 inches on the side. It consists four 10 foot
sections plus top hat.. What would be your suggestion on the required
 number of guy ropes.

My present setup was made like what I used in OK but I think it is an over
kill. It now consists of 5 sets of 4 guy ropes. With the ridged frame of
this antenna, I would think that 3 sets of 4 guy ropes would be enough. I
would appreciate your suggestions or from anyone that has had more
 experience than I have.

Bill
