[Lowfer] Multiple ARGO runs

Garry to give credit where credit is due, Dave Burke W5DSB came up with
 the multiple screen idea.
I have also run Spectran and Argo at the same time. I found times when
 Spectran would copy when
argo would not. To optimize Argo captures I have set as many as three Argo
 screens on one beacon
with various sensitivity and contrast settings. there is nothing like
copying a beacon live in real time and
tweaking the settings, but sometimes I just cant just cant stay up all
 night.
The limitation is the audio bandpass of the rec. My TS50 is 2.7 khz, my
Pegasus will go much wider. Spectran
will go up to 4800 or 5000 hz , but Argo only goes up to 2700 hz.
some where I read argo doesnt like a rec bandpass of less than 400 hz. I
have tried narrow band pass on rec
and got mixed results, so I have settled on 2.7 khz for receiving and let
 Argo do the selection.
Thanks for putting this out to the forum, its another valuble tool.

I'm passing along a comment from Paul, K5WMS that may be of interest to
other Lowfer listeners. Paul notes that two copies of ARGO can be run
simultaneously with the receiver tuned to a frequency whose audio output
covers the frequencies of two different beacons. That way two beacons
can be monitored simultaneously without the need of SDR equipment.

For example, at my QTH beacons WMS (187.492 kHz) and WEB (189.95 kHz)
are at approximately the same heading (this only matters if you use a
directive antenna). Setting my IC-706MkIIG dial to 187.2 kHz USB allows
both beacons to be copied after careful adjustment of the right-side
frequency tab of each ARGO window (center at 292 Hz tone for WMS and
2.75 kHz tone for WEB). The mode of each window need not be the same. I
used QRSS-60 for WMS but QRSS-30 for WEB. Similarly, beacons WMS and CV
(185.3 kHz) can be monitored by setting the radio dial to 185 kHz and
adjusting the ARGO displayed frequency to center at 2.492 kHz and 300
Hz, respectively. This was done last night and those three beacons came
in fine.
