I listened a bit last night for beacon "R", reported to be QRV on 169.90
QRSS-3. No lowfer signal was noted but a strong external carrier was
present almost exactly on that frequency. It faded away for a short
while once, but unless I can null it the prospects for copying such fast
CW at 455 miles aren't good. I assume the beacon is in or near grid
EM36rg, based on latitude/longitude values for the city of Cotter,
Arkansas. On the other hand, beacon WMS, on 187.492 kHz QRSS-60 and also
in Arkansas, came in fine last night even with static crashes from
storms to the south. And, WEB in Texas as usual was good copy on 189.95
kHz QRSS-30.
By the way, who is "John"? That name isn't exactly unique so I don't
know for sure who Brian, KG8CO is referring to.
