[Lowfer] Test only

Today 40 meters sounds like 20 did back in the 60's, same for 80 meters
looks like the bands have shifted down one notch.
DX was rare on 40 in the '60s now it is common late at night to hear N
Europe and The Mediterranean.
I made my first cw contact in about 10 years last week on my MMR-40 ssb/cw
qrp rig. No DX yet but I have
Md on ssb and Tx and MN on cw. I finished my bitx 20a but 20 is so dead I
havent made any contacts yet.
you can view these on www.qrpkits.com .
Latest project is a Paraset replica. These sets were built by the Brits in
WWII and droped to the resistance
forces in N Europe. It is a small three tube tranceiver, two tube regen
rec and 6v6 transmitter. Any one interested
can google "paraset" and see the various replicas. We have a military
museum here in Jacksonville, when finished
I hope they will display mine.
WMS is still poluting the airwaves but no reception reports. I got an
email from Bill Bowers he has his tower and
transmitter ready to go back on the air. Last week Bill was walking his
miniature doberman and the dog went after
a cat and triped Bill. He fell in a bush and punctured his arm with a
branch then had to go to the ER and have it
sewed up. Docs advised him to stay out of the heat till it heals so it
will be a few days before he is back on the air
with WEB.
Nothing much for lowfers to do in the months with no R's.

Here's a solution to that big wind catching loop.

That'll stay up for a few years I think.
Just got in from the lake. Took the family out on the ski's. Came home
for dinner and now about ready for some chocolate ice cream. Yummy!!!
I haven't had any radio's on for a while. 40m is always open but many
complain about little or no sunspots and don't stick around. Watch the
later evenings as the band goes long for DX stations. 30m is also a darn
nice band and it stays open after dark.
We all know how difficult it can be to make a contact on a LF or MF
band, imagine those HF sissy's trying to run 1750m...ha ha ha...They'd
give up the very first day. Those HF bands are always open somewhere,
just gotta find that somewhere with someone alive on the other end.

by a wind and cracked in half. I gathered the pieces and put em away.
What happened was I used a steel strap to bridge the main upright spar as
a safety strap. It cracked. The strap is the kind used for water pipe
hanging, has holes in it. Well it was torn apart that windy day in March.
