July began with loads of lightning activity on the map at
http://thunderstorm.vaisala.com/explorer.html. Nonetheless, WD2XGJ was
transmitting on 137.7799 kHz and being received well by the F1AFJ
grabber around 0200Z. Used an e-probe/SDR-IQ setup here and received XGJ
very well too - strong enough to easily see with QRSS-3 bandwidth. At
0300Z moved to 189.95 kHz for WEB with a 10' loop/IC706 setup and it was
also in there good enough to see with QRSS-3 bandwidth. Unfortunately,
couldn't find WMS on 187.49 kHz after that. The rest of the night was
spent trying to decode TAG with the pre-filter Andy mentioned. No luck
there either but in the morning found the antenna was still on the
heading for WMS. Next time I'll try to listen without Murphy.
