The only real requirements for cancellation are that there be a phase 
difference between the interference received by the main and auxilliary 
antennas and that the interference received by the auxilliary be larger 
in amplitude than that received by the main.  Doesn't matter how the 
signal got that way or what the patterns of the individual antennas may 
be.
