Hi K9AYers .....Good try Bill, but I am afraid that won't quite convince me.
There are probably any number of ways of getting a K9AY pattern, but that
does not prove that it works that way (eg two phased verticals....which I
believe has been suggested) I have no axe to grind I am just interested in
the right answer, rather than some "hand waving" extrapolations. (I'm quite
good at those myself) I am also worried that by the time one get up to HF
the size of the loop is much closer to the wavelength so extrapolations from
HF to LF may not be valid.

A loop with a sense gives a cardioid shape I have a feeling that the null on
a K9AY is sharper and the side response less. I wonder if anyone has tried a
simulation (EZNEC?) to save Bill getting frostbite  :-))
