Hi all:

For a few days now I have been playing around with a sound card
soft receiver. After hours of experimenting with various coils,
and capacitor combinations, using both the HF wire antenna, and
the LOWfer transmit vertical; I think I have the setup about as
good as I am going to get it. I hope to hear " SAQ " on Dec. 10th
and on Dec. 24th. I have the receive setup to where I can listen,
See, and Record the WAVE audio all at the same time. It may be
like listening for the sound of a gnats wings while standing by
an airport runway, But it will be fun to try. I know the military
stations are Very High power, but I am " Audibly " hearing the
FSK ( I think ) transmissions of 18.3 KHz - HWU,in LeBlanc,France
19.8 KHz - NWC ( 1 MegaWatt ) US Navy - Holt Sta. located in
Exmouth, Australia , and 21.4 KHz - NPM US Navy in Laualualei,
Oahu, Hawaii. Of course the other US based stations " BOOM " in.
Amazingly as it mat sound; I have repeatedly tried MF and LF
reception with both antennas, and the LOWfer short vertical
wins about every time. And it's no different on VLF either.
I can receive on both antennas, but when matched as best as I can
for these frequencies; the short vertical beats the wires,
hands down. For the fun of it; I recorded clips of the 3 stations
I mentioned, and posted them on my Charter webpage. They are about
15 seconds long, and by the time I started recording the clips;
HWU in LeBlanc, France had faded deeply, and was barely discernable
at the noise floor. The stations in Australia, and Hawaii are easy
to hear the twittering sounds. I also uploaded a Screen Capture
of the WinRAD soft receiver.
