Andy,

Not much time for a lengthly reply, but don't worry about the non-linear 
PA for FSK modes like JASON. For the various PSK modes, the only issue 
is about generating keying clicks from the fast rise time when there are 
phase reversals. Unlike ham radio, however, the key clicks are probably 
an issue only for you -- they won't be heard at any distance. They might 
affect your AM broadcast reception at your QTH.

The non-linear PA WOULD be an issue for modes that transmit two or more 
tones simultaneously...and of course, for voice. You probably want to 
avoid that type of operation.
