I like it!  Especially the multiple frequency and phase registers
which the AD9851 lacks.  Thanks!

For this project, though, as is often the case, I _had_ the one I used
... "free", but had to pay to have it soldered.  I did one "by hand"
and I think it all works except for two of the data pins which are
shorted.  If I can clean that one up I'll have two.  It does produce a
clean output but just not at the selected frequency.  Sad -- I had
four "free", ruined two, may salvage the one I just described, and
have the one for sure good one.

BTW, as can be seen from my layout -- I plan to use this thing at
relatively low frequencies only.  I've never tried making a real
two-layer board for HF and don't guess I need to for this simple
application.  So even when I put this on a pc board it will be the
pre-drilled project-type and similarly wired.

And of course I know the various evaluation boards are available, but
the DIY aspect is at least half the fun and educational, to me :)
