OOPS , should have been 1.610 MHz. The state has several of these on small
trailers and we usually request at least one , as soon as we are deployed to
an incident .

Really simple system that just takes few minutes to put into operation . I
am waiting for them to declare one surplus . <grin>

We were staged 10 miles from the Greensburg , Kansas disaster and had no
problem hearing the TIS for updates through the night .

The one that I maintain is run by a Hospital , in Wilson County , Kansas .
It is a permanent installation and they received FEMA / Homeland Security
grant money to purchase and install it . The antenna is mounted on a 30 foot
utility pole and they buried 10 , 50 foot long radials . They normally run
10 watts , but the output can be raised to 20 watts in the event of another
disaster . They have a person that makes a CD at city hall and takes it out
there as often as needed to change the community calendar .

This year we are going to work on making it fully remote from 3 different
locations .
