Hello Lowfers,

In his reply about the FT-897, Jim mentions about wanting a low pass
filter between his rig and the active antenna. I'm using a PA0RDT
mini-whip with my IC-735 and I found the same thing. Rather than
building a low pass filter, I constructed a passive preselector which
tunes from 100 kHz. to 600 kHz. in two bands. I used an old dual
gang BCB tuning cap of good quality and a Hammond RF choke
as the main parts. A National "velvet vernier" makes for smooth
tuning, and it really did the job of cleaning things up.
