The 897 is not a very "strong" receiver and will cross-mod at the slightest
excuse, the attenuator doesn't help either - so I guess it's partly due to
the diode switching. What it does have going for it is that it is very
stable and pretty accurate in its frequency calibration (no options fitted).
If you fit a sharp filter ahead of it it will be OK.
