Peter I read that article with great interest. I"ve built dozens of
circuits with the ne602, including the up
converter in Drew Diamonds book "QRP Projects from Downunder"
I built a simple rec a couple of weeks ago using two ne602. The input of
mine is a simple pi lowpass . The
first stage is crystal controled by a 5.185 xtal, second is controled by
5.000 xtal. It gives + or - 185.000khz audio
difference to the sound card. Stability is not too good with battery, I am
going to add regulator and run it from 12v.
Also freq is off but I can compensate with ARGO and Spectran calibration
offsets. Havent copied anything but
my own beacon, but it will be handy to carry aound in the car for feild
strength readings. Larry Coyle's front end is
much better than mine I will try that. Mine has way less than $10.00 worth
of parts. If I were building Larry's I
would add an oven oscilator for calibration accuracy.
Looking foward to second part of that article.
thanks

Gents,
Re: New LF RX Conv in QST
Larry Coyle K1QW has part 1 of a 2 part piece on his design of a
WINRAD-type converter for LF. Uses the SA602AN chip module and describes
his rx loop. The software defined rx part to be in Part 2.
Some here should find his ideas, in part of all together, of interest.
See the Nov. 2008 QST, pp 36-39.
