Charlie,
Fine on discovering the world of LF. The other replies are good and here is a site of an active east coast operator and his LF projects, many which mention Lyle's (K0LR) designs. Dex's 185KHz signals have been a staple of Part-15 operations for some time. Also, note higher up on this site are links to other LF operators and endeavors.

( Others reading: I chose this site because of the "picture and narrative qualities"  :-)) and not because of any other bias or technical evaluation.)
