Charles - I did actually have xdw running controlled remote whilst I was up here in AK on business/christmas back in 2005 - I seem to remember I had a trip which I couldn't reset from the PC - dang it.
Warren XGJ on 137 was clear enough at times but with the qsb periods being fairly quick dot 60 for here was a tadge slow. Its very quiet - S3 with the blanker on which is some 15dB quieter than XDW Anchorage, but SMPSU's squiggles are still seen.
Its not exactly good long haul over the Pole at the moment towards Eu - but still up to 5000 kms better than average on lower geo lat paths.
500 here is noiser and I'm determing whether its one of the local flame throwers spill over or my house alarm system.....
No real effort in noise elimination save bypassing all dimmers, adding toroids to all perceived threats, and shoving in an earth stake to dump all the common mode noizes zooming up the coax, but as this is a wooden framed house there isn't so much to be gained as a metal framed/concrete abode where reinforcement are bonded to an earth. I am going to go into the foundations and try bonding an earth and see the net result. But I'm probably better orf laying a line out some 200ft or more and trying a vertical or reasonable lambda loop instead of this good PA0RDT baby bottle probe supported by 20 pound breaking mono, but its working pretty well as long as I adjust the voltage to get the best xmod/image performace (13V in my case) -
Down again in Okie next week I think for a flying visit then sadly for us back to Northern China this time for the new year.
I'm itching to fire up the 500 and 137 gear but its baby steps and the house must come first.
Cheers
Laurence

Gee Laurence if you had left the "big gun" here in OK. , then you could
listen for it up there . <grin> Maybe next year , I will get ambitious and
put some good power on with a big antenna out at the farm .
