Hi again Mitch (and all),
Just another 'finding' relating to the use of ARGO after some time away from the action:
On my new Compaq laptop I was experiencing some interesting-looking background patterns that didn't seem to have anything to do with the receiver output signal. Turned out that the placement of the the shielded wire leading to the 'mike' input of the computer changed the pattern. To fix this I moved the attenuator and coupling xfmr close to the input, thus reducing the sensitivity of the cable, as a one-turn pick-up coil, to magnetic fields (which the shield has little effect over).
Will be watching tonight.....
