Gotcha ... I sought to minimize wind load, hence the 3/8In arms. Also the end pieces allow full winding space. One could also notch them to aid in holding windings. That's labor intensive, as is drilling holes for wire, here 20 per end. The simpler way is to affix the windings with Silicone compound, but it must be worked to contact the wires and the end piece. It sets up in a few hours. The main wind loading will be upon the center hub, and I've "aired" it out a bit.
I was happy with the winding process this time. When the windings slipped, they stopped at the re-enforced edges. Later just pushed them back for "gluing.".
Don't think this means will work with heavy solid wire (Zack's choice), however. Mine was 20-22 gauge.
