Hello The Net:
I spent some time receiving some Loran-C stations on Sunday.
I am located on Cape Cod, FN41sr and I was using a McKay Dymek active
whip antenna
with a Austron 2100F Loran-C frequency monitoring receiver.
The 2100F allows me to compare my GPSDO 10 MHz reference to the Cs ref
at the Loran station
I was able to track the following:
GRI 59300 (microseconds) Canadian East Coast Chain:
Nantucket, MA secondary-x,
Caribou, ME master
others in chain not heard
GRI 79800 Eastern US Chain:
Malone FL, master
Grangeville secondary w
Raymondville secondary x
Jupiter FL secondary y
Caroliona Beach, SC secondary z
GRI 99600 Northeast US Chain
Seneca, NY master
Caribou, ME, secondary w
Nantucket, MA secondary x
Carolina Beach, SC secondary y
Dana, IL not heard
This is a old microprocessor based receiver, so I have to tell it to look
at a specific GRI and let it find its first station.
Then I force it to look for the next station in the chain, one station
at a time.
The newer receivers detect, track, and log all stations "in view",
simultaneously.
I have heard of the Stanford Research Systems FS700 and the LOCUS receivers.
Are there any others I should consider ?
Stan, W1LE
