Hi Stan,

You will have to see the remoteness of this site to appreciate the unlikelihood of anyone walking by. It crosses a trail that may see only a couple of strangers, humans that is, per year. I'm sure the number of moose passer byers per year is higher.

Speaking of branches: I pulled the one and only support rope tighter yesterday and this raised the lower portion from 5ft to 6ft above ground and also reduced the contact with some branches. This required some added capacity from the Vc in the box to re-resonate. .... But the antenna current also went up > 5%. Will have to determine why.

Can't really do much by trimming branches over 90% of the loop as it rests on two large maple trees. One of my major goals is to determine if contact with these branches has much effect on the Rac. At 185K the effect was very small. Of course the power level is something else to consider.

Yes, last night my signal down here around mid night was very strong but this morning I can hardly hear it. This must indicate the path is nearly all skywave? And all that QSB last night relates to the conflict between surface and sky waves? Also the noise level last night was moderately strong but constant, so it didn't have much to do with the large changes in readability. Today the noise is much lower, so this, again, points to a mostly skywave path. I've got to get an SVM together so I can put numbers on these effects. ... also to determine what the local pattern up there is like.
