Andy,

It just dawned on me that I should have been more specific in my
original message. Here goes:

WSPR receives audio signals between 1400 and 1600 Hz. My transmitter is
set for 136.077 kHz with a 1500 Hz output, putting the signal on the
announced 137.577 kHz.

So, set your receiver for 136.077 kHz, USB. You can plug the following
values onto the WSPR screen:
Dial Freq: 0.136077
Tx Freq: 0.137577
As you say, there is a lot of noise in the 2.4 kHz BW, but I believe
that the program is effectively reducing the detection BW to 200 Hz
centered on 1500Hz. Note that this is a QRP mode, and seems to produce
results similar to WOLF within a two minute period. Of course, WOLF has
the ability to build up copy beyond that, so you can't carry the
comparison too far!

The only other troublesome issue is time. You should try to have your
computer clock set within 1 second of real time. This can be done
manually with WWV, or with the Dimension 4 program that Jay and I have
recommended.

With all of that being done, if the program receives a signal, it should
output a line in the white box every two minutes, just before the
start of an even minute. Here's what's currently on my screen:
080601 2320 12 1.4 0.137577 0 0.4 WD2XES FN42 57
