[Lowfer] Part-15 Xtal Needs

I used a cheap 6mhz microprocessor xtal in my wms beacon. I think these were
32pf paralell resonant xtals. You might send the vendor a copy of the ocsilator
circuit. Out alone by myself exact freq and stability are not required. I have
been advised that if one wants to operate in the "watering hole" in close proximity to others that closer tolereance of frequency and temperature compensation are required. I think I still have some 6.0 mhz microprocessor
xtals like I used , if you need one I'll be glad to mail you one.

Lyles rig is a snap to build. I used a K1EL id chip, very inexpensive, to key
mine at 0.2 and 0.02 wpm. The whole transmitter and ID chip is on a radio shack
276-170 pc board, about 2x5 inches. Only trouble I had was a failed transistor.
My rig has been knocked around testing loading coils and antennas. Last week
I was bench testing the rig and noticed an imbalance in the finals. Checking
the transistors I found an imbalance in the Beta's of the 2907 and 2904. Replace
ing the transistors with a pair that have similar betas resulted in an increace
of 2 1/2 to 3 times in antenna current. I called Dave W0CH and he agreed to set
his grabber on my frequency. Last friday was the first out of state reports I have recieved.

Any help you need just ask, I'll be glad to send pic's of my rig.

Subject: [Lowfer] Part-15 Xtal Needs

All,

I came across this California crystal vendor, MH, on the Web. Anyone have
opinions here?

The site indicates they can cut 5 MHz x-tals, say for a Part-15 frequency.

If one were to order one of these what parameters would be suitable for a
circuit such as
Lyle's Simple IC divider rig?

Peter
