[Lowfer] OT: 7MHz Moonbounce! (heard in DM04)

Lunar echoes heard for the full 2 hours; had to switch to my 6 Hz narrow
audio filter about 45 minutes into the test in order to keep hearing the
echoes. The TX was barely heard the last 30 minutes or so too--but the
doppler effect had the TX about 8Hz away from the echoes, so I could
tell which was which with the narrow filter.
Lots of fun!

Listened here for the first half hour. The moon was almost directly
overhead and couldn't hear any echoes with my vertical but when I
switched to the triband beam [lousy lousy antenna for this frequency but
at least horizontally polarized] the echoes started coming in pretty
well although with lots of QSB. Direct signal was always S9+ with no
visible fading. I watched the stuff with Spectran and 1.3 Hz bandwidth
and the doppler shift was consistently -1.35 Hz according to the peak
values indicated on the spectrum display. Altogether a successful
operation and I'm going to see if I can rig up a better horizontal
antenna for tonight.

P.S. In spite of what the lunatics think about HAARP the moon didn't
melt and we didn't have any bad weather or eqrthquakes here!
