Andy:  Didn't mean to imply you could not use 512.
Most of the time it is clear.  Just monitor it whenever
your using it.  If using QRSS30, you could listen in between
characters. :-)

I'm sure you would hear NWVC.  Would be interesting of they
could hear you.

Question:

    How can you know their operating dates?  Also curious as to why 
anyone would use that frequency on inland waterways [if I understood the 
original message correctly - trashed by now] when VHF voice is available?
