Stan,

Having the AFC off is OK if you can guarantee an on-the-nose
transmitting setup from all sources. May not always be the case.

I tried MultiPSK's soundcard calibration routine, and it gave an answer
of 11024 Hz. But I know from cal's using Spectrum Lab and a precise 1
kHz tone that this particular computer had a sampling rate of 11026.48
Hz. I'd sooner trust the SpecLab approach. Will tinker further!

16 vs. 8 bit resolution seemed to make some difference with WOLF, where
a signal might be 40 dB below the noise in a 500 Hz BW. But the results
were never all that dramatic, even with WOLF. I've stuck with it, but
have the feeling that it also keeps white elephants out of your front
yard. <g> Can't hurt, if the computer supports it.

Patrick's English is fairly good...I'll be interested to hear his
response. In this case, the MFSK modes originally came from IZ8BLY and
ZL1BPU, and I'm not sure how much original work he did with them. These
modes also exist in IZ8BLY's STREAM program, but I haven't been able to
get it to run with my sound card.

John A.
