All LF thinkers,
Re: Specifing A Proper Loading Coil For A LF Vertical Antenna

Hi,

Given that Hi-Q loading coils are the goal in efficient tx vert. antennas so that special measures
to reduce ohmic and reacive loses are taken when constructing such a coil to resonate the ant. system.

But what about an vertical used for receiving? The high current is missing from such so is the
need for High-Q as important?

Consider that an inductor based on inductance from ferrite material would not be desirable due to
"saturation" fortx power levels, but would that same arrangement suffice for rx usage? Moreover,
could all the L be derived from a ferrite inductance and produce as good a rx antenna?

Just a thought on a sub-zero morning.

Peter
