It will be outdoor loop probably 8 foot accross (I will probably use a
Farady shield and might play with a regenerative link to increase the Q). I
decided to build a balanced loop to kill common mode noise and use a remote
preamp and varactor tuning, running the DC down the coax.
Thanks
Pete

Pete,
Fine on going the loop route, but what kind are you thinking? A small one
needs an amp at LF,
esp., Part-15 freqs.
Part-5, say, 137KHz, offers nose-bleeding tx power so that may be another
case and untried by me.
Also, expect the loop to perform best out-of-doors, in the clear. This can
be verified by tuning for
NDBs near 200KHz..
My experience w/ a 6-foor tuned multi-turn pentagon shaped outdoor loop
worked best w/ an
amp. (I built one of Lyle Koehler's, the Universal one.)
In my case the amp was near the rx, mostly so I could have access to it for
manual tuning.
But with remote diode tuning it could be packaged for outdoors mounting at
the loop proper,
considered ideal.
Lastly, consider using a "ground loop de-coupling" means, eg, a toride type
transformer on the
feedline near the rx, even as a precaution.

Thanks.
I wil build a loop using varactor diodes to tune. I guess I don't need to
consider a preamp (comments welcome).
