I wil build a loop using varactor diodes to tune. I guess I don't need to
consider a preamp (comments welcome). I wasn't sure how well the low end of
the Orion would perform.

I use a Pegasus and it works very well I would suggest getting the W4MQ
software also.
I think he gets $35.00 a year and he updates all the time. He is also open
to suggestions.
