gosh mate thats a good letter...for what its worth us jokers down here in 
new zealand we have tested 0.1 watts on 18i.4khz between christchurch and 
timaru  (pronounced  tee  mar  roo as one quick word..means place of 
showter) antennae at tx site 20ft up and 30ft across...sigs in timaru were 
r5 s4 t9  not  sloooow morse either  hihi...5watts from my exciter  into my 
lf antennae  60ft vertical with top loading loop work 150miles any direction 
on  ssb....with the kilowatt grunter on into ozie and all over zl...still 
waiting for a 500khz band..some time when the govt. comes out of the bush we 
mite hear somthing on that...kiwi bush that is  73s george  zl3pn
