Hey Rick:
Alan gave you some pretty detailed advise, and very good. I'm not
very knowledgeable on LF antennas, but offer this to think abt, that
I've read on the web. Electric Power Companies spend lots of money
on their ground systems, one thing they do is called " Doping " the
ground wire, and the ground rod. This means to dig the trench for
the wire and pour a layer of Epsom Salts in the trench, then lay the
wire on top of the salt, and pour another layer on top of the wire,
then pack it down, and cover it. Also they dig about a 6 inch round
hole down about 4 feet. They will drive their ground rod into the
hole, and then fill the 4 foot section with Epsom Salts. The ground
wires and ground rods are bonded together, and then soaked with water.
The " Doping will last on an average of about 2 years before the salt
begins to dissolve.
There is much more that can be told, but soak up what you have now,
and ask questions when you need to, and Google alot !! 73, OM:
