Charlie,
Ya, read about THE coil in recent LowDown, p 18. Recognize the Bowers' style, hi hi. I've also used those insulator strips on LF coils to true up the bucket bias. Ha, this helps but does not fully prevent windings slide-off, which still happened in zero-degree wx. Guess some contraction factor at play.

But here's a question about the table presented for Taps: How does L+ result in less mH than its opposite, L- ?
Seems odd to me. Possibly the headings are transposed.

Bowers uses the term "tickler coil." I take that to mean the vari-coil at top, which, when "varied," adds or subtracts its inductance to the base coil.

Overall -- nice coil! I'll be hunting its signal fersur.
