[Lowfer] Lowfer Forum

As for myself, the only thing I am missing is the ability to send
attachments. But owning several web sites allows me to just post a pic to a
site then add a link to email, which works OK for me.

With due respect for the poster that offered to set up a web site, I would
like to offer a service to the group:
I'll just open a directory on my server anonymously for people to post
things in: Captures, documents, etc. Then just add a link. With a little
configuration you can even set up a folder on your machine to be mapped to
this new directory.

Should at least tackle the file sharing problem.

2 cents...

I belong to, and occasionally check out, a wonderful full featured forum -
AM Fone. This forum would be a model of excellence for anyone considering a
similar forum. But, from what I can see, those that spend a great deal of
time posting and replying spend little time actually on the air or doing
things radio related. It's almost as though the forum is a substitute for
the real hobby.

For what I do on LF, an e mail list that allows timely announcements,
reception reports and embedded or attached pix or sound files, is far more
useful. The former LWCA LF reflector was a good example of a very useful
tool for the dissemination of information and attachments in a timely
manner. The LWCA HF reflector still exists with this capability but is
rarely used. (Still don't understand why the LWCA maintains an HF list but
not an LF list...)

Guess I just don't have the time or desire to frequent a bulletin board and
wade through 'human interest' stuff to find something relevant. E mail is
more efficient and I can press the 'delete' key in mere milliseconds if the
topic is irrelevant.

Just a personal opinion...no need to stoke up the flame throwers...

Jay
