[Lowfer] Emission Designation

yea I was thinking of a variable inductor.the big coil should only weight a
few hundred pounds so its not that big of factor IMHO. I have lots of
enamled wire and have built quite a few tesla coils so im not scared at all
;) as long as i keep the inter wire voltages down to below 90V it shoud work
okay. I have about 10 miles of 25 awg on hand and figure thats as small as I
would want to go in case I get a few hotspots while tuning. I would have to
buy that wire today considering the cost of wire.

as far as ground radials are concerned I will be lacking a bit there. I was
thinking of feeding some wire down the sewer system, LOL but it would be
more pain than its worth especially if it caused a clog down the mains
somewhere.
I will likely end up putting in the radials under the grass a few inches as
much as I can. Certainly will be a fun project.

By the way I have a selective voltage meter made by Marconi. It seem to not
work correctly anyone have a service manual on one of them?

Kent, LoFer's,
Been reading the mail on this new vertical application. Yeah, Kent, that's a
heep-big coil.
Should end up weighty too. Some thoughts:

First, might not want o go the L/C route, not that efficient. Usual designs
at LF call for
only an L, tuned with a vari-L, able to rotate in proximity to Mr. Biggy.
Plenty of notes around on that techneque.

Next, the wire. What size for your power? I believe Ol' Ralph from La is a
master on
near-TeslaCoil windings. He also has a Web site w/ info. Ha, also, do you
have the wire
or will you be paying a visit to say a HomeStore to buy $ome??
Hmm, is that a mile 'worth' of wire? ;-))

Last don't neglect the ground or counterpoise radials. Ya know broadcast
stds. call for
120 of em. Yeeks, you'll need to also apply for a Fed loan--in 18 copies.

Well, enough scarry talk. Interested on your efforts and progress, as are
others here on
the List.

Don't expect too much progress now that winter is knocking. So yours may be
a spring project, eh?

GL and Happy Winding--Peter, also a vertical/tophat nut

Well thats the problem there.. Im less than 1 Mile from the end of the
runway so Im going to have
to make a really big capacitive hat. My loading coil im planning will be
about 4' in diamater and 8' tall
