Kent,
You've gotten a lot of good advice on the application. I got waylaid on
another project last night, so didn't get back to you on the emission types.
The FCC wants to see formal emission designators with bandwidths on
these applications. The basics are laid out in Sections 2.201 and 2.202
of the FCC rules. See:
http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_06/47cfr2_06.html
Pick a BW sufficiently high to accommodate the recognized modes. If you
plan to use PSK at various rates, just base the license request on the
highest rate, and don't list the subrates. The FCC is more concerned
about knowing that your modulation scheme will fit in the available
bandwidth, than having a detailed list of each of the things you might
like to try. Warren's WE2XGR application has a good collection of
possibilities.
