A similar one one about 138.250 khz. Very close to a loran
line. The one on 137.877 khz runs for about 8 seconds then
drops in strength about 10 db for another 8 seconds. Time
between transmission is about 24 seconds. I asked about
these years ago but don't think we ever came to a conclusion
about their origin.

Hi Dex,
Thanks for the info. Interesting you can hear it also in NC. This is the
first time I noticed the one on 137.877 since about a week ago. It is quite strong
here in SC. The one on 138.250 is a constant carrier but it also shifts in
power level - it sounds like higher power for about 17 seconds then lower power
for about 22 seconds.
I think I have heard the one on 138.250 before but just dismissed it as a
carrier of some sort. The one on 137.877 is new and noticeably close to the band,
at least for someone with a wider filter in their receiver.
The one on 137.877 might be an interesting target signal for the guys up in
the NE. Wonder if anyone up there can hear it?
