John,
Thanks for the signal report. Always good to get a visual confirmation of
what the measurements up there indicated. I left my laptop in Ellsworth and
have no easy way of looking at the signals down here. Maybe it's time to
repair the old computer whose on- board sound card failed. some time ago.
This 'dual life' requires a dual set of toys (tools too) or it drives you
nuts loading the car every time you make the trip.
Because your antenna up there is so dependable, and in fact taken for
granted, I've forgotten what you are using as a conductor. Was that RG-8?
Speaking of RG-8, I bought a box containing "at least 200ft" at the Ham fest
for $20 - good stuff too. When I measured it at home it came to 400ft!! Now
it just sits there because I can't decide whether or not to cut it to the
needed 200ft for a second loop in Ellsworth - or put it on hold for a super
600M loop (or NOT, depending on yet-to-be-determined loop parameters at that
frequency :).
