Good news about TAG's return, John - and the resilience of that loop. My two
signals from Ellsworth should also be visible at their normal frequencies. I
found the control signal to the loop had become unplugged and that was the
reason for the lack of the W. I also re-tuned the vertical so it should be
up to normal power, save a few percent for the damp conditions up there. It
rained every day upon my arrival on Wednesday! Sun actually came out this
afternoon but the rain continued. (??)
Had the R-75 this time and I re-installed the tree antenna and checked out
the 75M band tonight. 3910 KHz had a group of what must be one of the
reasons for the negative talk about what Ham Radio has become. It was
exactly like CB radio! Nothing technical; foul language, and over-concern
about who had the strongest signal and who could "out-strap" the others -
even though they were all Boston area stations blasting in at 40db over 9!
