Hi Mike,
Well, up here in the "Great-Green-But-Used-To-Be-White" North, I'm right in
the middle of assembling a tube-type MOPA transmitter for the 160-190 KHz
band...
I have the chassis all drilled & painted already, some of the major
"hardware" components (tube sockets, variable caps, coils, etc.) are
mounted, & the p.s. is finished. It's a 6AH6 Hartley oscillator, driving a
5763 final amplifier stage --- CW only. Inspiration for its design came from
the old Cornell "cookbooks", & W2ZM's piece in the most recent AWA JOURNAL.
When / if(!) I get this little "jewell" percolating along, I'll start
winding
a basket weave base loading inductor for the antenna, & then (hopefully!)
start some tests on-the-air...a couple, or three weeks (tops), & I should be
good to go...
I'll let everyone know via this venue, so that folks like you might
(hopefully) listen for me, in this my first really serious stab at the band.
The village of Newcastle (my QTH, pop. 8500) is some 70 miles "almost" due
north of Buffalo, N.Y., & about 50 miles east of Toronto --- just some 3
miles north of Lake Ontario.
Stay tuned...!
