Hi Laurence,
How many days is a few? All that is left is putting the FET's/heatsink
on the board and winding a transformer. The driver and signal shaping
circuit is complete and tested good. The transverter works excellent. I
was on 507kc a week ago with a tiny ~1w output listening to my signal up
& down the band with another rig and it sounded very clean. This amp is
designed for 100w output. The second amp is a kilowatt. 100w should be
plenty to get out. This 100w amp also works on 136 & 185kc. Also tested
1w output SSB on 180kc a week ago. It too sounded excellent. I have to
finish my G0MRF linear amp to run a healthy SSB signal on 1750 meters as
this 100w amp is class D. The kilowatt amp will also be Class D. I got a
fresh supply of 65v 110amp FET's in last week so I am good to go for a
while. Give me a date when you will be in 5 land and how long you will
be there. Pat /6 has turned up the wick on his tube amp so you will for
sure hear him well. Dex was on the other night with a killer strong
signal on 507kc I believe. The noise floor here was 40/9 but Dex was
stronger!!! hi hi...I don't know what he is running down there but his
95' vertical surely must help. 600 meters has way stronger signals than
2200 meters does with way less power output. I am getting excited to see
how well 100w does on 1750 meters next winter. I also have 200' of
Belden RF600 feedline here that is supposed to be for a loop conductor
but I don't know if my trees can hold it up. That cable is as big as my
thumb & is very rigid. When you moving back here for good? We could use
a central US station on 505kc.
