Jay & John:
Monitored the qso yesterday. I experienced the exact opposite
phenomena that Stan described. XNS was solid here in Ohio w/
an occasional minor fade. XES was much weaker w/ deep fade
cycles.
I will post examples to my website later today at
http://home.woh.rr.com/n8tl/weak_signal.htm
If we ever get a ham band at this lf, it will only be of qso
quality if we have modes that allow real time qso. My observation
to date shows that for our distance apart, and, at this point in
time, hell and Jason fast modes would almost qualify. Also, cw w/
bandpass at about 100 hertz or less will also work.
Experimentation using less power, i.e., 100-200 watts output
would be an interesting test. These are reasonable levels for
most hams. If memory serves me, John is Loop and Jay is vertical.
I'm sure that this played a role in the fade phenomena. There have
been other times where the signal levels were reversed, but, these
days, Jay gets the nod.
Time to get off the soapbox...watch for my hellish posts.
Regards,
