    I can run either sideband but will stick to cw or QRSS until the Fall when the static quiets down, then maybe some ssb experiments.

  BTW, the reason for the odd assignment was an objection from the FAA - they were afraid that the wider bandwidth signals would go out of the band, above 190kHz where the NDBs are.  The fastest way to resolve the issue was to compromise and accept 160-185 for ssb and 160-189 for cw and data.  I guess if you follow the logic of the FAA argument we could operate lower sideband with a carrier frequency of 160kHz, but given the strength of the BC station on 162 here that doesn't make much sense.
