Hi Ted,
Hope to hear you on this Fall. 40'x60' is pretty small for a tx loop at 137 - anyway that you could get more height?
My loop is 80' high by 145' horizontal with the bottom anywhere from 5-12' off the ground (the ground is sloping), and its not all that efficient, I am in the process of upgrading to silver-plated RG-214/U as a loop conductor which should help some. I don't want to discourage you, some of the 1w Part 15 stations have been copied 1000+ miles with a similar size loop to yours, but it's awfully hard to radiate a signal down on 137! (Believe it or not the U.K. hams had an allocation at 73kHz a few years ago - talk about spitting into the wind!)
GL and let us know when you get on, I have a new K9AY receiving loop up and I'm looking for target signals to go for!
