John, I think you agree that there's something great about picking up Carl's
signal that is hard to put words to. Maybe it's the 'nostalgic factor' but
I just love to listen to that old beeeep; beep beep beep beep and sometimes
leave it on for hours. I'll take a listen tonight.
As I think back over the years it's always on a cold night that TH makes the
scene. I know for a fact that the Carl's vertical is surrounded by trees
and when you mentioned "cold spell" I started wondering how much of our
reception of him is dependent on his antenna current being high - which is
dependent on the sap % in those tree limbs.
I'll ask him about this - it's been a while.
