Hi Mike,

Before it was closed down in 1985 in favour of the 625-line standard that 
supplanted it, the original UK TV Standard (circa 1935) was 405-line/25Hz with 
a line frequency of   -  argh!  -  10.125kHz.  Now the funny thing was, TV being 
as pervasive as it is, an entire nation had acclimatized to it and just simply didn't 
notice it.

It was only if I spent some time away (like abroad on holiday or working) that I'd 
walk back into my mum's living room and just crumple and die on the spot.
