Proof that one picture is worth a thousand words! Quite a different
environment compared to what we have here in the eastern US!

Why not locate the transmitter inside the house where the temperature is
relatively constant? There's another factor I haven't seen mentioned on any
of the discussions relating to xtal temperature stability is that all of the
xtal spec sheets I have looked at indicate the temperature coefficient has
been tuned by the manufacture to be lowest at room temperature. The TC plot
looks like an inverted hump with 24C at the bottom. (I suppose this relates
to the fact that the low-cost xtals are designed for microprocessor
applications) So the final stability is not only related to how well you
keep the temperature constant but also how close to 24C you are operating.
