It looks like you live in the desert. That looks like some perfect LF
vertical land, but then a loop may work out better between two towers. Hi
hi...

Subject: [Lowfer] Two new photos added to the Picture Gallery.
Two photos under:

The first is the location of my future HiFER beacon. This is a one acre
corral that is perfect.
The second is more of a "technology demonstrator". While trying to think of
the most rugged way to design a 1/4 wave 13 MHz whip, I realized it is also
the perfect design for a rotatable dipole to get back on HF!!!! The mast in
this photo is a 21' length of 1 5/8" chainlinkn fence toprail. It is guyed
about 9.5' and 19'. It is slid over a foundation stake and bushing and
anchored with 24" long foundation stakes.
The HiFER antenna will be the same design, non-rotating, better insulted
with ground plane added and tuned to 13,555 KHz. The transmitter box will
be mounted at the base with a beehive insulator and short wire jumper to the
antenna and ground. There will also be a 434 MHz wireless thermometer in
the case with a 1/4 wave antenna mounted outside. All the electronics will
be well insulated in no less than 3" of foam/aluminized mylar and small
heaters may be installed on critical components. The beacon and thermometer
will be power by a gelcell and solar panel.
ID has yet to be determined.
Detailed technical questions welcome.
