I once put up a 40' length of 2-1/2" diameter thin wall aluminum pipe as
a base insulated vertical antenna on the peak of my two-story house. I
do dearly wish someone had shot video of that effort!
I had three other fellows and my wife helping me. We had to pull on all
the sets of guy lines just right to keep it from breaking and to raise
it from below the horizontal at the roof line to vertical and not let it
keep going right on over to the back of the house.
After about three false starts and a half hour of trying, we did it, but
I am still not sure just how we all managed to get simultaneously
coordinated. When we finally did it, it only took about 45 seconds to
get it in place. I still think it was magic.
When I took the mast down several years later (the antenna never worked
very well), I just cut a guy line and dropped it.
