Watched bidding on ebay for two ceramic Vac Vari Caps, a 1,000 pF
Jennings went for $104; one like it, same type but 500 pF, went for
almost $160.

They were light for LF loop-ing where several K-pFs are needed. But
they were a good price overall.

Jennings is a well known U.S. maker. But also offered on ebay are
Soviet-block electronics including Vac Vars. Anyone have a thought on
dealing with a foreign ebay vendor from that area of the globe? -- or a
U.S.S.R product as mentioned?

I don't think the RF cares about country of origin, though the shipping
matter may be circumspect.
