Nice, John.
Yeeks, a 4,000 pf monster too. Way to build 'em. See the motor control
there also.
Other, notice some el tape unwinding on the coax. Try this: Scotch
Super 33, pricey, but I'll never use anything lesser. (Ahem, Let's not
talk duct tape at this time.)
Picked up on that from the tower guy last spring. Had him erect the
back tower (remember the "one handers he pulled") and he secured the top
mast to the tower rail using this tape. Hmm, I thought. Few months later
I had my own "license" to climb (bought a tower belt) and went up to
assemble my part. Carefully unwraped his work and merely stuck it to my
shirt. After decending I needed to tape something quick and reused some
of that 33. It bound just swell -- after being in the sun and rain for 2
months. Convinced me. Got mine at the Home store, maybe 4x that of the
bargin stuff that self unwraps. Heh heh.
Gee, yet another anecdote.

Peter,
> And yes, from the Neb. Surplus site -- pricey! and connectors extra!
It's worth keeping an eye on Ebay for these things. I picked up a
virtually
new 100 - 4000 pF 5kV unit last spring for $225.00. The mounting used
tapped
holes at one end and a nut at the other, rather than clamp-around
flanges,
so I was able to roll my own with some plexiglas and copper strap. The
end
result is at:

Slight overkill for 1 watt, but the FCC may yet shed its grace upon
me.
