Hi, Dale,

> Seriously, what mode should we get ready for?

I'd really like to try a straight-up CW QSO -- seems like it could be done
with the HiFERs -- I'm often able to copy a couple by just standing in the
yard with my portable radio. What am I saying ... "could be done" ... I'm
sure plenty of you have already done it. But I'd like to, too!

> Eric, are you still listening with some external BFO setup?

No - I do now have a portable radio with BFO. Not entirely cream - tunes
in ultra-granular (HAR) 1 kHz increments, has a switch labeled "ssb" and a
dial -- the dial having one direction marked "-" and the other "+". Not
_quite_ an R-75 :)

I am able to copy W1AW, though, some HiFERs in QRSS3 (nothing slower
without getting seasick), space cadets, etc. Covers up to 30 MHz.
Generally use my active whip.

But with an upgrade imminent I've abandoned plans for the R-75
anyway in favor of an Icom transceiver which, by the way, I've noticed
they aren't exactly giving away, either.
